When we started Rose Rocket, our mission was simple: build the best cloud TMS.

When we started Rose Rocket, our mission was simple: build the best cloud TMS. At the time, the transportation industry was still running on outdated systems: rigid, siloed, and difficult to scale. We saw an opportunity to modernize the TMS experience and make it faster, more connected, and accessible to everyone, from small brokerages to enterprise carriers.

As we grew, one truth became increasingly clear: there wasn’t just one version of what the industry needed. Every customer we met ran their business differently. A five-truck carrier and a national brokerage don’t just operate at different scales, they operate with different logic, workflows, and expectations.

The challenge wasn’t that the industry didn’t need another TMS, it was that it needed too many versions of one. Our original architecture couldn’t stretch that far and we needed a new approach.

That’s why we built Rose Rocket’s Platform, an ERP-level software designed to be composable, flexible, and connected. Platform redefined what a TMS could be. It allowed Rose Rocket to scale and adapt to each customer’s needs, whether that meant building custom workflows, adjusting business logic, or connecting seamlessly with external systems and partners. It made the software modular, extendable, and capable of supporting any size or style of operation. In short, Platform became the base layer for a new kind of TMS – one that could flex for a small fleet or power an enterprise network, all on the same foundation.

Through that transformation, something even bigger emerged.

The Foundation of an AI-Native TMS

By rebuilding Rose Rocket on Platform, we unlocked the architecture to create TMS.ai: the next evolution of our product, and what we see as the fourth generation of TMS.

In our earlier blog, we talked about how transportation technology has evolved through four major generations.

  • 1st Gen: The first generation of TMS was built on IBM AS/400 mainframes – powerful but closed systems that brought the first wave of digital structure to transportation.

  • 2nd Gen: The second generation introduced on-premise software, giving companies more control but locking them into rigid, isolated systems that were difficult to customize or connect.

  • 3rd Gen: The third generation, cloud-based TMS, changed everything – enabling collaboration, scalability, and access from anywhere – but most still operated as systems of record, capturing what happened rather than shaping what comes next.

  • 4th Gen: Now, we’re entering the fourth generation: AI-native systems that are context-aware, adaptive, and predictive, built to understand the data, behaviors, and relationships inside logistics operations so businesses can act faster and smarter.

That fourth generation is TMS.ai.

Platform made it possible by providing the composable, connected architecture required for intelligence to live inside operations rather than outside them. For years, TMS software has focused on recordkeeping: tracking shipments, billing, and performance after the fact. TMS.ai shifts that paradigm. It isn’t just a system of record; it’s a system of intelligence, one that understands what’s happening as it happens, anticipates what’s coming next, and helps users act faster and smarter.

At the core of this evolution is a belief that AI is only as smart as the context it understands. In transportation, that context lives within the TMS – in the orders, the lanes, the carriers, and all the complex, real-world data that powers every decision. Without that context, AI is just guessing. TMS.ai changes that by embedding intelligence within the operational core of the business. It doesn’t live on top of your data, it’s woven into it.

This is AI made practical: not a bolt-on feature, but an embedded layer of intelligence that saves time, reduces error, and helps companies make better, faster decisions. It’s still Rose Rocket at its core: flexible, connected, and grounded in the reality of logistics, but now rebuilt for a world where systems can see around the corner.

Platform gave us the flexibility to serve everyone. TMS.ai gives us the intelligence to serve what’s next. Together, they represent the evolution from systems of record to systems of intelligence, a foundation for the future of logistics that’s adaptive by design and intelligent by default.

We’re now operating as TMS.ai, a Rose Rocket company, to reflect that evolution and our belief that the future of logistics will be built on intelligence grounded in context.

To our customers – thank you. You’ve never asked for easy. You’ve asked for better. You’ve challenged us to make Rose Rocket work the way you do, and that push is what brought us here.

TMS.ai exists because of you, and for you. The future of logistics software isn’t coming, it’s already here.
